SGI Serves Up Six-Core AMD Opteron Servers

SGI announced the immediate availability of servers based on the new Six-Core AMD Opteron processors, which it says will help to increase energy efficiency and address core scale-out needs in Internet and high-performance computing markets such as federal government, digital media, financial services, and oil and gas exploration.

The company says several models are now available, as well as rack- and data-center-level solutions such as ICE Cube modular data centers, CloudRack C2 enclosures, and standard rack-mount products.
