SIS LIVE Saddles Up for Derby Time in the UK

By Kevin Hilton

The world’s favourite flat race in the horseracing season, The Derby, takes place on Epsom Downs tomorrow (June 6), with live coverage on the BBC. Facilities for the race, which was founded in 1780 by the 12th Earl of Derby and features 3-year-old horses, are supplied by SIS LIVE.

Among the 40-plus cameras operating in SD around the course are special models designed to give viewers the best possible view of the action. These include the Arri Hi Motion, the Heletele, and a camera mounted on a blimp.

SIS LIVE is using its D2 and U11 trucks for the production, supported by links vehicles. Presentation will be enhanced by eight replay lines from six EVS servers, with packages assembled in two Final Cut Pro suites. Facilities will be run by 85 technical crew members.
