Streamed Yankees Games for Cablevision Subs? YES, Reportedly

According to published reports, New York Yankees games on YES Network will be streamed live online within the team’s home market for the first time in MLB history under terms of the carriage deal reached earlier this year between the regional sports network and cable operator Cablevision Systems.

The New York Times reported that the streamed games will launch later this season and be available to Cablevision TV and broadband subscribers who receive tiers that contain YES, adding that a not-yet-determined fee will be involved. Multichannel News added that Major League Baseball Advanced Media is also involved in the pact. MLB Advanced Media holds the digital rights to all clubs in the league.

According to the Times, Comcast SportsNet Chicago planned a test of a similar service last season, but it was scrapped.

“We have nothing to announce at this time, and we typically would not comment on this kind of offering until it was in front of our customers,” Cablevision said in a prepared statement. MLB, YES and MLB Advanced Media would not comment.
