SportsNet New York to Ride Subway Series

SportsNet New York is ready to swipe its MetroCard for the first game of the 2009 Subway Series Friday night, when the New York Mets travel to the new Yankee Stadium to take on the New York Yankees.

SNY will fire the first pitch of its coverage at 6 a.m. ET, when it simulcasts WFAN’s Boomer and Carton. Hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton will operate from SNY’s street-level studio, across the street from Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan.

Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts will also broadcast their midday show live from SNY’s studio from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

And from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., SNY’s Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling, Darryl Strawberry, Bob Ojeda, and Chris Carlin will participate in the network’s annual Subway Series plaza event.

SNY’s coverage of the game begins at 7 p.m.
