Audio-Technica Raises the Volume at InfoComm 2009

Audio-Technica will use InfoComm 2009 in Orlando, FL, to demonstrate its BP892 MicroSet head-worn microphone, its ATCS-60 IR conference system, its BP896 MicroPoint subminiature lavalier microphone, its mtu201 XLR desk stand transmitter, and headphones and accessories for its M2 and M3 in-ear-monitor systems. The company also announced a trade-in program for its 700-megahertz wireless products.

The company says the BP892 MicroSet features a condenser capsule with a diameter of 2.6 millimeters, and its Parylene coating is available in either a non-reflective black or theater-beige finish. It is available in a wired model, as well as in several terminations to work with A-T’s and other manufacturers’s wireless systems. The microphone has an omnidirectional polar pattern and features a flat, extended frequency response (20-20,000 Hz). The wired version features a switchable integral-80 Hz high-pass filter that provides easy switching from a flat frequency response to a low-end roll-off.

The ATCS-60 system uses infrared communications technology and consists of the ATCS-M60 microphone unit (base unit), the ATCS-60MIC dedicated standard-length gooseneck microphone, the ATCS-A60 IR transmitter/receiver unit, the ATCS-C60 master control unit, the ATCS-D60 distributor (splitter), the ATCS-B60 battery charger, and the ATCS-C60MAG software. It operates in two modes, manual and automatic, allowing for a number of different meeting styles and levels of formality

The BP896 MicroPoint measures 2.5 mm in diameter, providing for minimum visibility, and it operates on phantom power and includes a complete accessory kit. It is available in black and beige wired and wireless models.

The mtu201 is optimized to work with any of Audio-Technica’s 29 Engineered Sound gooseneck microphones with 3-pin XLRM-type output, making it ideal for such applications as podiums, boardroom tables, and other situations where a gooseneck is preferred over a boundary-type mic. It provides phantom power to the microphone and features a programmable touch-sensitive switch (for push-to-talk, push-to-mute or toggle operation) and nine-hour rechargeable battery life.

Audio-Technica is also featuring a wide range of headphones and accessories for its M2 and M3 in-ear-monitor systems.

Finally, the company announced a 700-MHz trade-in program in an attempt to encourage wireless users to move out of the 700-MHz spectrum range in anticipation of regulatory decisions by the Federal Communications Commission. Owners of its discontinued 7000 Series, U100 and 1400 Series wireless-microphone systems that operate in the 700-MHz range are being offered a 15% rebate on the purchase of any new A-T products from an authorized U.S. dealer with the exchange of 700-MHz receivers. The company says the 15% can apply to any dollar amount spent on new A-T product from an authorized dealer, and there is no limit on the condition or age of wireless products qualified for rebate, but the receivers must be turned in by Sept. 30 for rebates good through year-end.
