Ringgold Telephone Dials Up EchoStar’s ViP-TV

Ringgold Telephone Co. in Georgia will use EchoStar Satellite Services’s ViP-TV video-transport service to receive up to 42 HDTV channels at its IP headend for its NexTV IPTV service, bringing the telco’s total number of HD channels to 48.

ViP-TV can deliver a secure, MPEG-4 encoded IP stream of approximately 275 broadcast-quality TV and music channels from a satellite located at 85 degrees west longitude, as well as providing satellite-delivered local-TV-channel aggregation in a telco’s designated market area in both HD and standard-definition (where available).

The ViP-TV delivered IP channels will be available immediately to RTC NexTV subscribers. RTC provides converged communications to more than 11,000 access lines in northern Georgia.
