Kirkwood Expects NFL to Announce Second UK Game by Super Bowl

The NFL is expected to announce a second regular-season game at London’s Wembley Stadium as part of its International Series.  The announcement is expected to come before Super Bowl XLIV is played on Feb. 7, according to NFL UK managing director Alistair Kirkwood.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the NFL also plans to ramp up television coverage and digital media campaigns over the coming years. NFL TV coverage in the UK currently includes two regular season games broadcast each week on Sky Sports, a week NFL magazine showon network TV channel Five, and an hour long highlights show on BBC during every week of the Playoffs.

The NFL is also investing in digital media to help bring in new viewers. Last year, the league launched coachstilo.com, an educational website that attempts to explain the game for the novice fan. Next year, it will begin promoting another website, nfluk.com/360, which will encourage visitors to get behind a particular team.
