Comcast Still Far From Finalizing NBCU Deal

Consumer Groups and competitors remain unfazed by what they call token concessions by Comcast that don’t address the real issues with the company’s attempt to acquire NBC Universal. The House Communications and Senate antitrust committee have both scheduled hearings on the proposed venture for February 4.
According to the Associated Press, Comcast and NBC will file paperwork this week with the Justice Department to comply with the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, an antitrust law governing mergers and alliances. It will also file a public interest statement with the FCC, which must approve the transfer of NBC’s broadcast licenses.
