Polka: Sports Programming Plays Integral Role in NBCU-Comcast Deal

Matthew Polka, president of the American Cable Association, warns that sports programming could end up being a deciding factor in the approval of the proposed merger between Comcast and NBC Universal.

According to Reuters, Polka wants his members to be charged the same carriage fees for Comcast-owned channels as Comcast does. However, smaller companies fear that Comcast will jack up the prices for sports channels if the joint venture makes it past regulators.
