NEP Supershooters Utilize Grass Valley Gear for 2010 Oscar Telecast

NEP Supershooters had three HD production trucks parked outside the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, CA, complete with Grass Valley HD production equipment and systems, to televise the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday live on the ABC.

NEP Supershooters has used Grass Valley equipment to cover the past six Oscar telecasts, annually presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

NEP’s “Summit” truck covered the main HD telecast with a Grass Valley Kalypso HD Video Production Center switcher, and a Grass Valley Trinix 192×160 HD video router under Grass Valley Encore software control. The company’s “SS25” truck, used for the Red Carpet activities and other ancillary events, carries 14 LDK 8000 WorldCam multiformat HD cameras, a Grass Valley Kalypso HD switcher, and dozens of Grass Valley GeckoFlex signal processing modules. The NEP Denali “Silver” truck supported the live broadcast, employing a Grass Valley Kalypso HD switcher and Grass Valley SMS7000 video router.

Additionally, A/V services company, ProQue was on site with one of their K2 Summit media servers tied to and controlled by one of the two Kalypso switchers, provided by NEP in their Summit and Silver trucks, used to cut the main show program feed.
