NAB Preview: JVC To Highlight 2D-to-3D Converter, Cost-Effective HD Camcorder

JVC is set to roll out a flagship HD camcorder at NAB, and, while details are still not public, the new model will represent a price cut: the GY-HD250U full-resolution HD progressive camcorder will be priced at $7,995, nearly 40% less than the previous model.

NAB attendees will also be able to check out JVC’s DT-V17G1Z and DT-V24G1Z LCD monitors, both capable of displaying 3G signals, digital closed-captioning, and even an internal waveform monitor and vectorscope.

The 17-in. version also includes AC/DC operation, making it suitable for field use. Suggested retail price is $3,300 for the 17-in. version and $4,995 for the 24-in. version.

And, for 3D production, the IF-2D3D1 stereoscopic image processor can convert 2D material to 3D but also output discrete left and right signals via HD-SDI or HDMI for dual projection or editing. A built-in HD-SDI frame synchronizer provides sync for two cameras that lack external sync, plus anaglyph and sequential viewing modes.
