MLS Taps VISTA for New Video Library

VISTA is the new home of Major League Soccer’s Videotape Library for archiving and distribution of the league content. VISTA, a decade-long partner of the MLS and and Soccer United Marketing (SUM), has built an infrastructure to ingest and distribute all MLS content in HD and or SD as the teams and partners require.

VISTA gathered a full team of industry professionals coupled with production assistants and graduate interns to manage, catalog, and distribute the content to all MLS programmers.  The VISTA/MLS library launches under the direction of Sean Neumann, a two-time Emmy Award winning producer for ESPN. Neumann will work with Dana Silver, VISTA’s director of emerging technology and Christopher Walkley, director of special events, who manages hundreds of backhauls for MLS games every year.

Working together with MLS, VISTA provides proven production and transmission solutions for a sports league that continues to grow throughout North America and beyond.

This is a big year for Major League Soccer as MLS will see a continued transition from SD to HD, an important decision that will continue to grow the league’s fan base.  VISTA will assist with this transition as the library has been built to accommodate the MLS teams and their broadcaster’s production needs. VISTA will also assist with transmission services abroad as the MLS continues to grow internationally.

VISTA is packaging its expertise in transmission services to help expedite the delivery method of weekly content to team and broadcasters by offering an IP infrastructure to MLS.  This will allow MLS to receive content at rapid speeds and immediately ingest requested content into their editors to increase turnaround production times.

With the library now housed at VISTA’s corporate headquarters in Dania Beach, Florida, a stronger relationship grows between the VTL and VISTA’s Communication Services Center (CSC).  By partnering the VTL with our CSC, VISTA can manage the league’s transmission services more seamlessly and proactively.

“This new partnership is just a beginning between MLS and VISTA,” says Roy Liemer, VISTA’s President. “We will continue to work together, introducing new technologies to an expanding league.”
