Vizrt To Demo 3D Graphics at NAB Using Christie Projectors

Visitors to Vizrt’s booth at NAB will get a glimpse of real-time, stereoscopic 3D HD imagery.  The presentation will be delivered to a 3×1.7 meter canvas screen using two premium 3-chip DLP Christie HD8K projectors, equipped with filters from INFITEC GmbH.  The Christie HD8K is a native HD 8,000 lumens projector with Xenon lamp technology – ideal for matching color temperature with studio cameras.

“The quality of our stereo 3D graphics projected on Christie’s projectors is unsurpassed,” says Gerhard Lang, Vizrt CEO. “The HD8K projectors have true native HD resolution of 1920×1080.  And they use Xenon illumination, which is the pinnacle of image color accuracy, and is needed for the filter technology provided by INFITEC. The output is the way stereoscopic 3D is meant to be viewed.”

The two Christie projectors will work in tandem to display the left and right eye perspectives that synthesize to form a true stereo 3D effect when viewers watch it through special 3D glasses provided by INFITEC.

“We see 3D HD virtual applications becoming a major growth market for broadcast much the same as digital HD has been important to the future of television,” says Gary Fuller, VP, Christie Business Products. “Vizrt is clearly leading the way with exciting new ways of delivering real-time HDTV stereo content.”

The content for the 3DS projected canvas will come from the Viz Virtual Set on the Vizrt booth. In addition to the feed from the virtual set, the 3D presentation will also include recorded material with overlaid graphics and also full screen graphics.

Christie will present Vizrt graphics within its booth (#SL2005) at the NAB convention.
