DaySequerra Addresses Audio Needs of Mobile DTV Delivery
DaySequerra will introduce a four-channel stereo mobile TV audio processor at this year’s NAB Show in Las Vegas. Providing intelligible dialog and consistent audio levels for mobile TV viewers is a major challenge for today’s broadcasters.
DaySequerra’s new MTV4ST mobile TV loudness control has been designed improve audio intelligibility and provide improved effective dynamic range using DTS’ proprietary NLM (Neural Loudness Measure) and NLC (Neural Loudness Control) algorithms. These algorithms were developed by DTS after extensive ground-breaking research in the field of human hearing and perceived loudness. The DTS NLC-NLM system allows accurate detection of spectral and density differences, inter-channel relationships and temporal overlaps in any audio content, providing precise and consistent real-world loudness measurement and loudness control.
The MTV4ST simultaneously measures four stereo AES streams using industry standard ITU-R BS.1770/1 and DTS’ NLM algorithm. The MTV4ST then applies a specially-tuned version of DTS NLC to each of the four channels to provide optimized loudness correction for mobile TV applications. DTS Neural NLC uses preconditioning to improve intelligibility at lower bit-rates and proprietary look-ahead technology to make large gain corrections imperceptible to viewers.

The MTV4ST is an easy-to-operate 1RU unit complete with large vacuum-fluorescent numerical readouts and bright accurate bargraph metering, a rear panel GPIO port and Ethernet interface for long-term logging, email alerts and field software updates.
