Litepanels’ ENG Light Looks Like a Lens

Specifically for ENG applications, Litepanels, a Vitec Group brand, has introduced a Sola Fresnel light that looks and feels like a lens. The SolaENG offers beam control of 70°-10° and 0-100% dimming  but can be controlled in the same way an ENG operator controls a camera lens.

“It’s very ergonomic, like your lens,” says Michele Bailey, sales manager for Litepanels. “The back rotates to turn it on, and the other portion rotates to do spot and flood.”

The 4- x 4- x 5-in. SolaENG weighs 10 oz. and draws only 30 W of power, even though it produces output equivalent to a 250-W tungsten. Using Litepanels’ efficient LEDs, the Sola lenses draw 90% less power than conventional lights and weigh only a third as much as their HMI counterparts.

“Because it’s LED, it’s environmentally friendly,” Bailey points out. “The other thing is, our products are ROHS-compliant, so everything that puts this light together is recyclable, even the solder that’s used. We even changed the packaging to be all recyclable materials.”

The SolaENG runs on 10- to 20-volt DC sources like camera batteries or via an AC power adapter.
