Sachtler’s Artemis EFP Stabilizer Takes the Shake out of Central Hall

Running up and down the aisles of Central Hall has never looked smoother on film, thanks to the Artemis EFP HD special-edition camera-stabilizer system from Sachtler, a Vitec Group brand. The stabilizer, combined with the ACT2 vest and the Artemis ACT2 spring arm, makes the operator appear to be one with the machine but offers an extremely smooth picture, even when jostled by the NAB show crowds.

The EFP HD SE stabilizer ensures a long-enough run time that the game can go to overtime and the camera operator can still catch the thrill of victory and agony of defeat.

“The idea here is to make sure that the run time of the battery is longer than the regular rigs’,” explains Artemis developer and operator Curt Schaller. “We built in Hot Swap technology to change out the batteries without shutting down the camera, and the transmission path to the OB vehicle is not interrupted. You can run the cameras up to 360 W, and the voltage drop will be less than 4%.”

The power-out socket was designed for the RED ONE camera but can be connected to other cameras with high-capacity power cables. The Artemis EFP HD SE supports the processing of HD-SDI video signals up to 4.5 GHz as well as SD video.

The Artemis ACT2 vest, which helps operators run with the stabilizer, can be adapted to the physique of any camera operator through its modular seven-segment design. The mating block is compatible with the American standard industry connector. The ACT2 spring arm is available in an aluminum version or a lightweight carbon version, as well as with three different sets of springs. The Artemis ACT2 carbon version was designed for live operation due to its light weight and ease of use.
