Don’t Just Feel Safe…Be Safe. Join Sports Production Safety Group Today (Psst…it’s Free)
The Sports Production Safety Group, an industry initiative designed to help improve the safety of industry professionals within production facilities, compounds, and venues, is encouraging everyone involved with remote sports production to visit and register at www.SPSGOnline.com as the first step in learning about issues like fall protection, hearing loss prevention, general compound safety, and more.
“We are encouraging freelancers, staff, and day hires for all sports broadcasting networks and mobile production companies to join up today, for free, so they can be up to speed on safety orientation courses that are relevant to their job duties,” says Ron Partilla, Fox Networks Group, Director, Production Safety, CSP.
The strength of the material found at the site, according to Partilla, is that it is industry-specific material put together by all of the leading national sports broadcast and cable networks as well as regional networks and truck company representatives.
“The site has resources and material that will help sports production professionals to get home safely as well as a comments area and a tool that allows users to report problems in the field,” adds Partilla. Problems can also be reported by using this link.
The SPSG is comprised of safety professionals from several TV networks who produce sports programming; the Sports Video Group (SVG) was selected to facilitate (SVG Industry Advocacy/Safety). Members currently include Fox, ESPN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Turner, NESN, & NEP.
