Job Opportunity: Clemson University, Lead Post Production Editor

The Clemson University Athletic Department is looking for an Assistant Director of Video Services to serve as its lead post production editor.  This position reports directly to the Director of Athletic Video Services.  It is a full time salary position with state of South Carolina benefits.  This job is not a regular 9-5 job.  This position will work many nights, weekends and holidays, require overnight travel on occasion and during the sports season will usually work more than 40 hours per week with no overtime compensation.
A candidate must have the following qualifications:
* A 2 year technical school degree and 2 years editing experience on Non-linear editing systems
* Experience in a demanding editing environment where time sensitive materials must be edited on a regular basis
* Ability to work both in a group and individually to complete an editing project based on the situation
* Ability to take direction from superiors and co-workers and implement this into an editing project
* Ability to shoot a professional style camera in both an ENG and studio setting
The preferred candidate must have the following qualifications:
* A 4 year undergraduate degree and 2 years editing experience on an Avid Media Composer version 3.5 or higher
* Experience creating weekly or occasional motivational highlight videos for sports teams
* Experience creating end of the year recruiting videos to be shown to potential student-athletes, at awards banquets, IPTAY and other Clemson events, etc.  These videos must be completed using highly creative editing techniques and high impact music to deliver an emotional response that creates great pride in an Athletic team
* Ability to comply with all applicable NCAA, ACC and Athletic Department rules and regulations
* Ability to deal with multiple personalities within the Athletic Department and utilize feedback offered in a positive manner
* Experience using Windows based software programs including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Sorenson Squeeze and Avid Studio Tool Kit
* Experience authoring DVD and Blu-Ray discs using Avid DVD by Sonic and ability to edit and burn to desktop recorders sporting events immediately after their conclusion
* Experience using and/or as the Administrator of an Avid Unity network system
* Experience shooting professional level cameras such as a Panasonic HPX-500 and HPX-2700 or equivalent.  Shooting experience should include ENG style, tight, field level sports highlights of all types of collegiate events and Studio style interviews and Green Screen type events
* Experience lighting a basic interview area with 2 or 3 point lighting
* Experience with basic audio techniques used in on-camera interviews and in voice over situations for post production projects
* Experience choosing motivational style music that will appeal to a wide range of collegiate athletes while meeting certain criteria for appropriateness
* Ability to work with a myriad of Athletic Department employees to complete a wide ranging amount of projects.  This includes but is not limited to Athletic Directors, Head Coaches, Game Day Managers, Assistant Coaches, Sports Information Staff and Athletic Video Services personnel
* Must have shown the ability to be a self motivator and have a proven track record of working independently to complete assignments early or on-time in a stressful editing environment
* Must have the ability to communicate well with others both verbally and in written form.  Must be well organized and have the ability to make appointments and keep these appointments.
* Have knowledge of live event production.  This could include serving as Producer, Director, Technical Director, Replay Operator, Graphics Operator and/or Audio Engineer.
* Experience creating in-game video board and LED productions.  This could include short promotional videos, crowd prompts and/or moving elements using logos of paid sponsors
* Experience creating on-air :15, :30 and :60 commercials promoting Clemson Athletic Events to air on in-game video boards, local television and regional cable networks
* Ability to archive video content and act as Administrator of archive system
* Ability to provide to the Director of Athletic Video Services information on needed upgrades of equipment and software
* Experience creating website video content for display on an Athletic Department website and common websites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
* Ability to provide Athletic Department webmaster with video content file paths from a secure ftp site that the webmaster will then utilize to place video material on the official athletic website clemsontigers.com.  This could include highlights created immediately after sporting events
* Ability to work with website streaming partners to provide live and on-demand webcasts of Clemson sporting events
* Ability to assist Game Day Managers with Daktronics equipment on a needed basis
* Experience directing student workers in an intense live production environment and on a daily basis to accomplish a stated goal
* Ability to work with local, national news organizations and 3rd party companies to share video of Clemson Athletic events
* Ability to work between Athletic Department staff and outside gameday production company to ensure smooth gameday operation of PawVision production
* Ability to attend weekly gameday meetings and relay needed information to Video Services personnel and gameday production company
This position is a critical staff member responsible for many video functions during all sports seasons but especially leading up to the first home football game on September 4, 2010.  The successful candidate must come into this job with a full knowledge of Avid non-linear editing.  This is not a position that has the ability to learn existing equipment on the fly.  This position will be required to start working on a list of duties immediately upon arrival.  This list includes but is not limited to:
* Sponsorship graphics for use on PawVision board to wipe into and out of instant replays
* Sponsorship animations for use on Daktronic LED display boards in Memorial Stadium
* :15 Olympic Sport promotional commercials to be played each week on the PawVision board.  These commercials change for each home football game
* :30 football ticket commercial to be aired on regional cable networks
* :30 commercial for men’s basketball ticket sales to be played on PawVision and regional cable networks
* :30 commercial for women’s basketball ticket sales to be played on PawVision and regional cable networks
* Sponsored crowd prompts and in-game features to be displayed on PawVision board
* :30 commercial promoting Athletic Department car dealers to be played on PawVision board
* :30 commercial promoting official athletic website clemsontigers.com to be played on PawVision board and regional cable networks
* Work with outside gameday production company to load, test and ensure all gameday graphics are working properly on their system before September 4, 2010.
