In the World Cup Spirit, IMT Offers Free Replacement Equipment

The world has converged on South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and Integrated Microwave Technologies (IMT) is taking that spirit of togetherness to the next level. Throughout the tournament, the company is offering free replacement wireless receiver and transmitter systems to all of its customers. Available through Zimele Broadcasting Services, IMT’s exclusive representative in South Africa, the loaner units are being offered to all Nucomm & RF Central customers covering the World Cup, even if their units are out of warranty.

“Should the need arise, an on-site customer-support engineer is also available on 24 hours’ notice,” says Simon Clifford, director of international sales for IMT, a business unit within the Vitec Group’s Videocom Division. “The World Cup is a major event for many of our customers, and it places extreme demands on resources. We are very happy to try to alleviate that problem as much as possible, in this case through the provision of on-site exchange equipment.”

During the run-up to the event, IMT contacted each of its customers to let them know about the on-site services. So far, all Nucomm and RF Central products in South Africa are working flawlessly, so the replacement services have not yet been needed. However, if a problem does arise, all customers have a step-by-step manual that walks them through the process from logging a fault through arranging for delivery of a replacement item.

The loaner items on-site include the Nucomm-brand CamPac2 wireless camera transmitters and complementary Newscaster DR1 receivers. Both products are designed for portable and mobile video applications. Under its RF Central brand, IMT is providing the CMT-II camera-mounted transmitter, PHT-II portable digital transmitter, and X6-II six-way COFDM diversity receiver. Zimele is providing initial first-line telephone support and will handle the distribution of emergency units, should a unit fail. The units will be delivered via hand courier to any venue within four hours of Johannesburg and via express delivery service to Durban and Cape Town.

“We have a number of South American and European customers in attendance, including the Associated Press Television News from the UK,” Clifford says. “We are confident that any future customer who evaluates these systems will be very pleased and ready to purchase.”
