Sprint Brings Live College Football, NFL, College Services in Consolidated App

When Southern Mississippi and South Carolina kick off the 2010 college football season on September 2, Sprint customers with Everything Data plans will be able to watch the game via a live stream from ESPN Mobile TV.  The live stream is one of a variety of services brought together under a single app, Sprint Football Live.  In addition to ESPN Mobile TV games, Sprint will also carry all Notre Dame home games.

The Sprint Football Live app brings together NFL and College football in “kind of a one-stop-shop,” explains Sprint Spokesperson Dave Mellin. “We’ve never had the ability to offer all the college content and pro content in one application.  Now, you’ve got the ability to customize so you can get access to breaking news and live updates [for selected pro and college teams].  So, if you’re a fan of a particular team, every time you turn it on, it’s got all the information on that team.”

Users can also access any number of information sites, and even control fantasy teams.

“We’ve pulled from some of the top brand-name sites like Yahoo, CBSSports.com, ProFootballTalk.com and CollegeFootballTalk.com,” Mellin explains.

In addition to the ESPN Mobile TV games, Sprint is offering exclusive content, including bi-weekly videos from NBC’s Cris Collinsworth and CBS’s Charlie Casserly, who will provide their own take on the weekly landscape. There is also a weekly update with Detroit Lions rookie Ndamukong Suh, as a production crew will follow him around weekly to look at the life of an NFL rookie.

ESPN Mobile TV will also provide College Gameday Live and College Football Live to the Sprint app.  Weekly games will be selected from the broadcast schedules of all ESPN Network offerings.

College football coverage kicks off tonight with the College Football Live Kick Off Show followed by Southern Mississippi at South Carolina, and later, USC at Hawaii.
