Civolution Revolutionizes Protection

Civolution is at IBC in Amsterdam this week with an upgraded version of Teletrax (version 4.0) that now includes an improved version of the company’s watermarking technology and fingerprinting for maximum content security.

Teletrax, the company’s next-generation global broadcast-monitoring detection network, is in use by BBC Worldwide, ITN Networks, the European Commission, and, in the U.S., ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and more.

According to Civolution CEO Alex Terpstra, the major upgrade comes as the company looks to ensure that clients can keep track of content around the globe.

Watermarking works by embedding identifiers within the program. Fingerprinting, simply put, takes a “fingerprint” of the program and adds it to a database. Using both makes it easier than ever to protect content during both production and distribution.

“Watermarking has great value if you want to know where content came from,” says Terpstra. “But fingerprinting allows the user to efficiently deal with large archived content and content that has already been released and cannot have a watermark embedded in it. There is no other network in the world that can do that.”
