IBC 2010: Sony Unveils Vegas Pro 10 Software, Vegas Pro Production Assistant 2 Plug-In
At IBC 2010, Sony Creative Software introduced Vegas Pro 10 software, an upgrade to its nonlinear HD video- and audio-editing application that provides broad audio and video support for media ingest, editing, and delivery workflows. And the new Vegas Pro Production Assistant 2 plug-in expands the capabilities of Vegas Pro Vegas Pro 10 and Vegas Pro 9 to expedite repetitive production procedures and make editing more efficient.
New features in the native 32- and 64-bit versions of Vegas Pro 10 include powerful stereoscopic 3D editing tools, enhanced closed-captioning, broadened video-effect support, new event-level audio effects, and workflow and user-interface enhancements. The updates enable media creators to quickly produce and deliver content for broadcast and broadband distribution, theatrical releases, and YouTube 3D and to prepare content for DVD and 3D Blu-ray titles.
Vegas Pro Production Assistant 2 is upgraded from the original, which launched in May 2009. Developed in partnership with VASST, it offers additional batch-processing tools, hands-free media-card processes, and workflow enhancements, such as auto trim and lower-third management, to increase pipeline efficiency for broadcast and creative video-editing professionals.
Both new products are slated to be available Oct 11 at retailers and www.sonycreativesoftware.com. Vegas Pro 10 software is priced at $699.95; upgrades from previous versions, at $249.95. Localized French, German, Spanish, and Japanese versions will also be available. Vegas Pro Production Assistant 2 is priced $199.95, with upgrades at $79.95.
