Spectra Logic’s nTier Deduplication Line Earns High Marks in InfoWorld Review
Spectra Logic’s nTier Deduplication appliances earned high marks in a recent InfoWorld review. Spectra’s nTier products received praise for their highly scalable and modular design, ease of upgrade, and ability to integrate smoothly with tape libraries. InfoWorld reviewed the products on the basis of scalability, performance, manageability, and data deduplication functionality.
“Being recognized with such high accolades by a respected publication, such as InfoWorld, is a great affirmation for our line of nTier disk appliances,” says Molly Rector, VP of worldwide marketing and product management, Spectra Logic. “Spectra’s nTier appliances come with the option of data deduplication and VTL technologies, which enable customers to easily and efficiently manage fast-growing data volumes while simplifying IT management for backup and recovery.”
Spectra’s nTier Deduplication appliances provide data reduction while making it easy to deploy deduplication as part of a complete D2D2T backup solution. The Spectra nTier Deduplication appliances are preconfigured and can be installed in less than half a day for simple deduplication deployment.
“The Spectra Logic nTier appliances performed flawlessly, provided excellent deduplication performance, and were highly scalable and easy to manage using Spectra’s BlueScale management software,” says Keith Schultz, contributing editor of the InfoWorld Test Center, who conducted the review. “The BlueScale operating system enabled me to measure the effectiveness of the deduplication engine, manage and maintain the VTL and define my replication schedules. Given its ease and performance, the nTier family is a perfect fit for enterprises that want to keep the look and feel of tape and migrate to disk-based deduplication.”
The InfoWorld review praised Spectra’s nTier Deduplication appliances for their quick view of disk usage and deduplication statistics as well as other features and functionality, including support of 10Gb Ethernet, native Symantec OST support, and multiple connectivity options
