Ratings Roundup: 2010 World Series Tied for Lowest Rated Ever

The 2010 World Series tied for the lowest rated in history, as the San Francisco Giants 5-game takedown of the Texas Rangers averaged an 8.4 household rating and 14.3 million viewers on Fox. This is even with ratings and up 6% in audience for the 2008 World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays (8.4, 13.6 million). NFL games have averaged 18.3 million viewers through Week 8 of the season, up 6% from last year and 22%  from 2008. NBC leads all networks with Sunday Night Football averaging a 13.0 rating (up 12%) and 21.5 million viewers (up 13%), which is the largest average audience for an NFL primetime package since ABC averaged 23.9 million viewers for Monday Night Football in 1996. Fox is averaging 11.5 and 19 million, both down slightly. CBS is at 10.9 and 18 million, up 12% and 14% respectively. ESPN’s MNF telecasts have averaged 9.2 (up 2%) and 14.6 (up 1%). NFL games have accounted for the 13 most-viewed programs on all of TV since the regular season kicked off on Sept. 9
