Streambox To Showcase Full-Frame HD 3D Encoder/Decoder at LTS

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome Streambox as its newest premier sponsor. Focused on IP-based, end-to-end live contribution services, the company delivers HD/SD software and hardware for video compression, transmission, management, and playout.

The Streambox Live service supplements the Streambox platform with free encoding software and server-based services for scalable newsgathering and contribution.

“Streambox offers a revolutionary approach to sports broadcasting, enabling sports media and other organizations to expand their live coverage for events that were not economically feasible or in locations that were not previously possible,” says Director of Sports Broadcasting James Page. “Streambox now also offers a full-frame HD 3D solution that allows sports broadcasters to send live and file-based video over their existing 2D bandwidth networks. Along with these products, Streambox has been a leader for over 10 years within the broadcast industry and is excited about working with Sports Video Group and everyone associated.”

Two recently released products, Avenir and Streambox Full Frame HD 3D encoder/decoder, are aimed at the sports-production market.

Streambox Avenir is an HD/SD mobile-broadcasting encoder that offers a complete solution for live and file-based video. Users can send video to hardware or software decoders as well as to the cloud-based Streambox Live Server. The product also has the ability to backhaul HD packages and highlights over low-bandwidth networks. Weighing only 7 lb., Avenir can be carried in a backpack or satchel, giving users the flexibility to send video from anywhere without having to rely on SNG trucks.  It can be connected to any available IP network — including WiFi, LAN, and BGAN — and also has the ability to bond up to eight 3G/4G cellular air cards from multiple carriers.  With HD/SD-SDI inputs, Avenir gives users the ability to capture high-quality video from the field.

Streambox Full Frame HD 3D will be available in December and will also be shown at SVG’s League Technology Summit Dec. 13-14 in New York. Full-frame HD 3D low-latency video compression enables higher-quality 3D video contribution over IP, while reducing bandwidth and transmission costs. Now Streambox allows 3D content to be delivered within pre-existing HD bandwidth infrastructures currently being used for 2D. Essentially, if you have a 2D HD workflow, Streambox 3D can be implemented without acquiring additional bandwidth or equipment beyond Streambox 3D transport for full HD 3D video transmission. According to Streambox, the single-device solution with full resolution and 4:2:2 color is the only true 3D contribution system on the market.
