Chryon’s Lyric PRO 8 Earns Digital Studio Award at CABSAT

Chyron’s Lyric PRO 8 graphics creation software has been honored with the “Innovation of the Year” award from the Digital Studio Awards 2011 for its on-the-fly Arabic text rendering capability. Announced during CABSAT on Feb. 8, the award is among the Digital Studio Industry Leadership Awards created to recognize the efforts of individuals and companies that have contributed to the growth of the broadcast and production industry in the Middle East.

“Our goal is to enable broadcasters to create high-end multilingual graphics quickly, easily, and without compromise, and the flexibility of Lyric PRO 8’s unique text engine makes this possible,” says Michael Wellesley-Wesley, CEO at Chyron, who accepted the award in Dubai. “We are so pleased that this unique capability has been acknowledged with a prestigious Digital Studio Industry Leadership Award.”

Lyric PRO 8 software features a continuous graphics-rendering engine to enable delivery of real-time 3D animations. Among the features of this latest software release is on-the-fly Arabic text rendering functionality that allows operators to switch between Arabic and another language with a single click, within a single template, and even on a single line. As a result, broadcasters working in two languages, such as Arabic and English, can take advantage of Lyric PRO 8’s new 3D text engine and the software’s complete feature set while intermixing languages and preserving a fast workflow.

Following standard Microsoft language conventions, Lyric PRO 8 switches between language sets and automatically provides the character set, font styles, and treatments appropriate for the language in use. As the user inputs text, the software ensures that the direction of text entry also is correct.
