NAB 2011: Dolby To Show Three Key Broadcast Solutions

At the NAB Show in April, Dolby will showcase three solutions designed to help solve today’s content-creation and -delivery challenges: Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby loudness solutions, and the Dolby Professional Reference Monitor. Dolby Digital Plus makes it possible to bring a premium surround-sound experience from the cinema into the home, streaming media, and portable devices, powering as many as 7.1 channels of discrete audio. Nearly 100 million devices contain the codec, and it is also supported by online streaming services Netflix and VUDU.

To establish accurate monitoring for creating any type of entertainment content, the Dolby Professional Reference Monitor fills the gap left by the CRT and accurately displays the full dynamic range, contrast, and color gamut delivered by leading-edge digital cameras and film stocks. Dolby volume and loudness technologies answer consumer and operator concerns about loudness variations at every point in the broadcast chain.
