Net Insight Transports Alpine World Ski Championships

Net Insight’s Nimbra Platform was used by a wide variety of broadcasters to transport high-quality video of the recent Alpine World Ski Championships from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany to key global media operators and major rightsholders.

Nimbra has a slew of high-profile transport successes under belt, including the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, and the World Cup in South Africa (where it had nine customers broadcasting from the event, including ESPN broadcasting 25 football matches in 3D through the transport network). Even so, Net Insight has been highlighting its recent role in the Ski Championships, where it was used for HD broadcast as well as for AES-EBU audio.

Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR relied on the Nimbra system for its contribution feeds from Garmisch to Zurich. The German public broadcaster ZDF, in cooperation with Net Insight’s partner Controlware, used it for contribution to ZDF’s headquarters in Mainz, while the Swedish broadcaster TV4 used the platform for contribution services. And, as always from large sporting events, the EBU’s Nimbra-based Eurovision fibre network provided secure and high-quality distribution to a network of TV broadcasters around the world.
