NAB 2011: Vizrt Integrates 2D-to-3D Stereo Conversion Tools

Vizrt and strategic partner Stergen Hi-Tech Ltd. will demo an integrated solution for 2D-to-3D stereo conversion and real-time rendered graphics at the NAB Show next month. Stergen’s 2D-to-3D stereo conversion tools can complement live stereo 3D production as well as offer a compelling alternative to expensive, logistically complex, live stereo-3D production.

Vizrt will demonstrate a complete analysis and sports-graphics workflow. The company has entered into a terms sheet with Swiss company LiberoVision AG, a leader in the field of virtual sports enhancements. Together, the two companies will show the future of sports analysis. LiberoVision is a 3D-technology provider for sports analysis and virtual replays. Its customers include ESPN, NBC, BBC, ZDF, Sky Italia, and Televisa.

Libero Highlight provides realistic 3D replays that are indistinguishable from the images produced by the on-site television cameras. It enables the broadcaster to move the viewer’s perspective to areas not covered by the in-stadium cameras, such as over the shoulder of the quarterback or the bird’s-eye view of the entire field. The software combines 3D replays with dynamic telestration for live game analysis. Libero Offsides provides instant 3D analysis of offsides during soccer games. It is aimed at resolving offsides disputes during soccer games.
