Venue News: Plans for UNLV Football Stadium Include Entertainment Complex

Preliminary plans for a 40,000-seat domed football stadium to be built on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus have been submitted to city officials. In typical Las Vegas style, it wouldn’t be just a sports stadium but a complete entertainment complex, with more than a half million square feet of restaurant and retail space. The man behind the proposal is Ed Roski, who owns Silverton Casino Lodge and is part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers. …Syracuse University has agreed to extend its relationship with New Meadowlands Stadium to include 10 more football games. The Orange already is slated to play single games against USC and Penn State and two against Notre Dame in the next five years. The 10 additional games will be scheduled between 2019 and 2038. Syracuse has a strong fan base in the region, and Athletic Director Daryl Gross has targeted it for marketing. The Orange beat Kansas State 36-34 in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in late December.
