NAB 2011: Adtec To Feature EN-81 Encoder/Modulator, RD-60 Decoder

Adtec Digital will showcase two of its most popular products on the NAB floor this year: the EN-81 contribution encoder/modulator and the latest version of its RD-60 integrated receiver decoder, the RD-60-03.

“Both of these [products] have been huge for us, and they continue to mature,” says Adtec President Kevin Ancelin. “One of Adtec’s key strategies is polishing our products to near, if not total perfection. It’s not about cranking out new boxes every six months; it’s about solidifying the core functionality and dependability of our products.”

The EN-81 was released in September and is designed specially for Tier 1 satellite, ASI/fiber and IP contribution and DSNG applications. It offers HD and SD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC encoding and boasts 16 channels of audio.

“The EN-81 came about because of the demand for expanded audio capabilities,” Ancelin points out. “It can do 16 channels of audio, so it’s truly a beast when it comes to audio.”

The RD-60 supports MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 platforms with 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 HD and SD decoding. It boasts 16 channels of audio, including MPEG-1 Layer 2, Dolby AC3/5.1, HE-AAC, AAC-LC audio decoding.
