NAB 2011: Teranex To Highlight 3D Conversion for VC100

This year at the NAB Show, Teranex will showcase the VC1-2D-3D application, a software option for its VC100 universal format converter and frame synchronizer.

This new patent-pending algorithm creates “soft” 3D programming from any 2D SD or HD source and runs exclusively on the dual-channel VC100. It simplifies the transition to 3D by using current production methods and equipment to convert 2D content into 3D programming. The application can brand 3D channels directly by inserting 3D logos, with horizontal, vertical, and depth position adjustments. It’s also suited to mixing existing 2D content into new 3D production workflows.

Recently, German broadcaster Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF) selected Teranex’s real-time 2D-to-3D conversion technology to transform 2D archives into 3D content for two of its channels. In making its selection, ZDF conducted an intense four-week field test, the results of which will be on display at the NAB Show.

Also featured will be Teranex’s new VC400 real-time, high-quality processor for file-based workflow.  It features Teranex deinterlacing, 3:2 insert and removal, cadence detection and correction, and scene-cut detection. It also offers support for many file formats and encoding solutions as well as a variety of connectivity options, such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet and SD/HD/3G-SDI input and output connections.
