CSN Chicago Adds Ultra-Mo, Pitch Trax to Cubs Coverage
Comcast SportsNet Chicago has announced its 2011 Cubs telecast schedule and accompanying on-air network coverage and online coverage on CSNChicago.com. The 2011 Cubs season on Comcast SportsNet includes 80 live regular season games with the first telecast, live from Wrigley Field vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 12
New game enhancements for the 2011 Cubs season include a permanent Ultra-Mo camera system at every home game. This HD system is capable of showing slow-motion replays of over 2,000 frames per second. In addition, “Pitch Trax” will be featuredin all games this season, which animates the precise pitch location throughout the game in a variety of angles. Additional new enhancements include an all-new graphics package and score bug, which will include real time stats in a variety of key categories.
In addition to the 80 regular season games, CSN Chicago will also air a pair of live Cubs spring training telecasts against the San Francisco Giants on March 20 (live from Hohokam Park in Mesa, AZ) and a “Crosstown” matchup with Chicago White Sox on March 24 (also live from Mesa, AZ).
For the seventh-straight season, Len Kasper and Bob Brenly return to provide the play-by-play and game analysis for every Cubs game. CSN Chicago’s David Kaplan adds a new role to his portfolio, becoming the network’s new Cubs studio host, joining studio analyst Todd Hollandsworth before and after the majority of CSN Chicago Cubs telecasts on Chevy Cubs Pre-Game Live and Coors Light Cubs Post Game Live.
From an online perspective, CSN Chicago’s website, CSNChicago.com, will deliver Cubs coverage all season long, including a live stream of Cubs manager Mike Quade’s post-game press conferences. In addition, Cubs In Game Live provides real-time, live data combined with timely editorial including compelling elements such as batter vs. pitcher matchups, live pitch-type, velocity and location data, detailed play-by-play, in-game box score, situation statistics, Twitter feeds from CSN Cubs reporters, Live in-game chat sessions, team headlines, out of town scoreboard, and photos.
Cubs “Insider” Patrick Mooney will file daily stories and video reports and also make regular appearances on Chevy Cubs Pre-Game Live, Chicago Tribune Live and SportsNet Central. Kaplan will also provide regular reports on the Cubs via his popular “Kapman” blog. Minor league Insider Kevin Czerwski will also deliver Cubs minor league farm system reports/analysis. Weekly Live chats will be hosted by Kaplan and Mooney and fans can follow both via Twitter @thekapman and @CSNMooney.
For the fourth-straight season, CSN Chicago will produce every Cubs regular season home and road game in a HD. Eight regular season Cubs games are currently scheduled to be telecast on CSN Chicago Plus.
