Broadcasters know and trust GlobeCast for their ability to manage and move content around the world,” says Philippe Fort, chief operating officer. “Today we’ve gone a step further, bringing content directly to the premises of the world’s most watched networks and bouquets.”

The GlobeCast Backbone Network spans five continents and reaches more than 30 POPs (points-of-presence) in television markets around the world. The company also has capacity on 28 satellites covering a potential television audience in the billions.

BBC Worldwide Relies on GlobeCast for Playout of Channels to Polish Market
In related news, GlobeCast is providing playout and media workflow services for four of BBC Worldwide’s Polish-language channels from GlobeCast’s London media management and delivery hub.

BBC Worldwide operates channels in many languages across the world and utilizes GlobeCast’s comprehensive fiber and satellite delivery networks as well as the “digital ecosystem” GlobeCast has created for content preparation.

This digital ecosystem includes connectivity and integration with partners who perform services vital to BBC Worldwide. International reversioning services provided by TVT form part of the ecosystem for BBC Worldwide, streamlining expansion into new regions by adding additional languages to the existing online content store at GlobeCast. This ability to use one pool of content across many regions, combined with the delivery connectivity GlobeCast, can drive down costs and reduce the time-to-launch of new services.

GlobeCast’s solution for BBC Worldwide includes ingest and workflow set up, secure storage, subtitling, graphics, encoding, encryption, and delivery of BBC Worldwide’s Polish language versions of BBC Knowledge in high definition, BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, and CBeebies, via the Hot Bird satellite. This satellite allows BBC Worldwide to have access to several major television bouquets in Poland. GlobeCast has been providing satellite delivery of BBC Knowledge, BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, and CBeebies to Eastern Europe and to Southeast Asia for the past three years.

BBC Worldwide is among the first customers to take advantage of GlobeCast’s next generation media management platform — a fusion of GlobeCast media asset management (MAM) and workflow technologies including CMS from subsidiary NETIA and IT-based playout systems based on Miranda iTX. The technologies, integrated with other GlobeCast media management hubs in Miami and Singapore, allow GlobeCast to offer a highly available fully managed service.
