NAB 2011: Ross Video Continues openGear Expansion, Partners with Linear Acoustic, Dolby
At NAB 2011, Ross Video will announce Audio Loudness processing using Linear Acoustic AEROMAX technology. The LDP-8242 Loudness processor actively and automatically manages and corrects loudness level changes in the audio content. The Linear Acoustic AEROMAX algorithms apply adaptive loudness correction across mutliple frequency bands to remove abrupt loudness changes while best preserving the original audio content.
“Managing audio loudness, while preserving the original audio, and maintaining audio/video timing is an ongoing challenge for many facilities,” says Eric Goodmurphy, Marketing Product Manager, openGear. ” With the introduction of the LDP-8242, using Linear Acoustic AEROMAX, loudness control just got a lot simpler.”
Loudness processing can be configured for a full 5.1 surround sound environment or set to process stereo pairs. Video processing through the LDP-8242 is fully compensated to match the audio processing delay in order to maintain proper audio to video timing.
Dolby Processing Solutions
Ross Video will also introduce a range of Dolby processing solutions at NAB. These coupled with the existing portfolio further extends overall capabilities of the Ross openGear offering. Handling all popular formats of SD and HD signals, the new series of Dolby processors include an audio multiplexer, an audio demultiplexer and a frame synchronization series with Dolby Digital and Dolby E decode and encode.
“The addition of Dolby encoding and decoding further strengthens our overall audio processing capabilities,” says Goodmurphy. “The audio MUX / DMX coupled with the frame synchronizer offers a complete suite of solutions for managing Dolby throughout any facility.”
Nielsen Watermarks Encoder
NAB will also mark the debut of Ross Video’s openGear Nielsen Watermarks Encoder. The NWE-3G Nielsen Watermarks Encoder modular solution comprises a 16 audio channel, 3Gb/s processing core incorporating the new Nielsen Watermarks. As an openGear solution the NWE-3G is designed for the transmission path with relay bypass on the rear module, redundant power, remote control with DashBoard, SNMP, and datasafe. The openGear platform supports up to 5 NWE-3G’s to support environments where multiple channels are being released.
“Ratings have never been more important. Ensuring that you get the ratings you deserve is what the NWE-3G is all about,” says Goodmurphy. “The NWE-3G with 3 Gb/s I/O and 16 channels of audio processing rates number one in inserting Nielsen watermarks.”
