NAB 2011: Streambox to Demo Live Mobile Encoding App on iPad 2
Streambox will demonstrate the Streambox Live Mobile Encoding App on Apple’s iPad 2 at NAB 2011. StreamboxME (Mobile Encoder), an element of the Streambox Live Service, offers a scalable approach to field newsgathering, allowing the mobility and flexibility to immediately send live or file-based video as events unfold. Because of the encoder’s ability to stream video from remote locations or areas lacking high-bandwidth networks, StreamboxME allows news organizations to expand their live coverage anywhere in the world.
The new StreamboxME application will be available for free download from the iTunes App Store and Android Market in the near future. The professional video encoding app will allow streaming up to 750 kbps and a frame rate of up to 15 frames per second on the iPhone and iPad 2; the StreamboxME Pro version encodes 30 frames per second on the iPad 2.
“The iPad 2’s support for video capture using the front and rear-facing cameras will allow Streambox Live users the ability to transport high-quality live and file-based video, turning the iPad 2 into viable reporting tool for journalists in the field,” says Bob Hildeman, chairman and CEO of Streambox. “Using Streambox Live on iPad 2, video can be transmitted with up to 30 frames per second – the same frame-rate as laptops, but the compact design of the tablet allows for easier transportation and content creation for journalists in live breaking news situations.”
StreamboxME adds the iPad 2 to its growing list of compatible mobile devices including; the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, HTC LTE Thunderbolt, Android-based smartphones, and IP connected laptops – that can be turned into tools for newsgathering acquisition and streaming. The improved App on the Streambox Live Service with Streambox decoders support breakthrough new video features including the ability to automatically output to NTSC or PAL video formats – extending the solution’s usability in global markets.
Streambox will demonstrate the Streambox Live Service, StreamboxME Mobile Encoder, and other innovative video over IP streaming solutions at NAB 2011.
