Tiffen Tackles Camera Accessories at NAB
The Tiffen booth at NAB was busy with a number of new products available, aside from the well-known line of filters. Among the intros was Lowel-Light’s LED Studio Series, bringing LED technology to studios large & small.
The first release is the LED Studio 450, which boasts output of 185 foot candles at 6 feet, 86 foot candles at 9 feet , and both with a beam angle of 50 degrees. It has a tungsten color output at 3200k, and a CRI of 91+ which mixes perfectly existing tungsten-halogen fixtures as well as high CRI tungsten color fluorescent lamps. Its DMX jacks allow connection and communication with DMX-512 control systems.
A Daylight color version of the 450 is expected to be released shortly, as well further tungsten & daylight color models. All models will auto-set to voltages from 90 – 250V. There will also be accessories such as Barn Doors, Egg Crates, and Honeycomb Grids for each fixture released.
Also on display was the ProVista 100 Tripod and head, designed for videographers who need a heavy-duty tripod for a variety of field, studio, educational, and industrial applications. It supports up to 80 pounds. ProVista 100 is a 2-stage aluminum tripod with a 100 bowl and a non-glare black anodized finish. The adjustable flip leg locks are easy to use in any conditions.
The top-leg section of the tripod has double-strut construction for stability. A 100 bowl fits all 100mm tripod heads. The tripod has spike feet for outdoor use. The ProVista 100 includes an adjustable floor spreader for all around use. Maximum height is 60 inches with a minimum of 14 inches.
The ProVista 6510 tripod and head is designed for videographers who need a lightweight tripod for a variety of field, studio, educational, and industrial applications. It supports up to 10 pounds. ProVista 6510 is a two-stage aluminum tripod with a 65mm bowl and a non-glare black anodized finish. The adjustable flip leg locks are easy to use in any conditions. Maximum height for ProVista 6510 is 60 inches and minimum height is 28 inches. Tripod with V10 head attached is 7 pounds.
Lastly, Listec prompters were featured for the first time, with the ENT and ENZ model on-camera teleprompters designed for traditional style ENG portables and Mini DV camcorders, the Entrée range has recently been extended to include off-camera stand-alone eye-line systems and executive conference prompters for speech presentation.
Packaged with either a 17-inch VGA LCD, or a 170inch or 19-inch display with both VGA and composite inputs, Entrée systems are available starting at just $1,895 with a choice of prompting software for Windows and Macintosh.
The Entrée Easy-mount and Z-mount support systems can be readily adapted for use with any of Listec Video’s custom-manufactured LED flat-panel displays.
