CommerceTel Lets Fans Vote on Miss USA via Text

CommerceTel, a provider of proprietary mobile marketing technologies and solutions, has announced a partnership with Miss Universe Organization to facilitate voting aggregation through mobile and online channels to pick a fan favorite semifinalist for the Miss USA contest.

For the first time, the Miss Universe Organization will leverage online, social, and mobile audiences to influence the outcome of the event. A semifinalist will be selected exclusively by fans via online voting and SMS messaging leading up to the live broadcast on NBC June 19 from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Fans can log online at www.missusa.com or www.NBC.com to vote for their favorite contestant beginning today.

“We are excited to work with the Miss Universe Organization on the Miss USA Pageant.  They wanted to bring cutting edge interactivity to viewers and I think our capabilities were the perfect fit,” says Michael Falato, VP of Sales & Business Development of CommerceTel’s newly acquired Txtstation subsidiary.

“The Miss Universe Organization has crafted a very innovative application of interactive technologies to engage fans at a whole new level,” says Dennis Becker, President and CEO of CommerceTel. “Combining mobile with social and online technologies is a great showcase to the depth and flexibility of our technology.”

“We’re constantly seeking new ways to pioneer fan engagement with our events,” says Colin Hornett, New Media Producer of the Miss Universe Organization. “Txtstation and CommerceTel give us the tools necessary to realize our vision of a truly cross-platform production enabling our fans to actually participate in the outcome of the contest. This inaugural implementation of new media tools is sure to take the Miss USA competition to a whole new level.”
