Comcast SportsNet Brings Philly Cycling Championship in HD

Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia will air the 2011 TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship on Sunday, June 5 from Noon until 3:30 p.m.  In addition to live race day coverage, Comcast SportsNet’s race programming includes a 30-minute race preview “Geared Up” airing on Friday, June 3 at 10:30 p.m. and daily coverage in “Daily News Live” and “SportsNite” beginning on Monday, May 30.

Race Preview Special

On Friday, June 3 at 10:30 p.m. Comcast SportsNet will air “Geared Up presented by TD Bank,” a 30 minute program previewing the 2011 TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship, including course highlights and featured riders. “Geared Up” will replay on Saturday, June 4 at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 5 at 11:30 a.m. on Comcast SportsNet and Saturday, June 4 at 6 p.m. on The Comcast Network.

Comcast SportsNet will also air daily “Geared Up” features in “SportsNite” beginning on Monday, May 30.

Live Race Day Coverage

Host Gregg Murphy will again be joined by cycling experts John Eustice and Todd Gogulski in covering the 2011 TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship on Sunday, June 5 from Noon until 3:30 p.m. Eustice is a Philly-area native and a former U.S. National Cycling Champion. Gogulski is currently an analyst for NBC Universal Sports and a former professional cyclist who was crowned “King of the Mountain” in 1991’s race for scaling the famed Manayunk Wall.

Murphy, Eustice and Gogulski will host Comcast SportsNet’s coverage live from a special race-day set atop the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. In an effort to bring the viewers as close to the action as possible, the broadcast will also feature motorcycle reports from the course. These duties will be performed by former professional rider and three-time Canadian Olympian Eric Wohlberg.

Comcast SportsNet’s high definition broadcast will utilize in excess of fifteen cameras including a helicopter gyro cam and multiple motorcycle-mounted cameras.

Coverage across the Country

Comcast SportsNet’s family of regional sports networks will air the race in their local markets, reaching nearly 24 million households. The following networks will carry the race live in their respective markets: Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, Comcast SportsNet New England and Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.  The race will be taped delayed in the following markets:  Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet California and Comcast SportsNet Northwest.

VERSUS, part of the NBC Sports Group, will air the race nationally at 8 p.m.  The race will also be available on Comcast On Demand beginning on Monday, June 6.
