Panasonic Shipping Eight Weatherproof Housing Systems

Panasonic Solutions Company has announced the immediate availability of a new series of cost-effective, versatile outdoor camera systems that feature AW-HE50 integrated HD/SD pan-tilt cameras and offer either integrated HD-SDI fiber optics or a MPEG-4 HD/SD network video codec as options.

The new systems and options will be shown at InfoComm 2011 in Orlando, FL from June 15-17, and are available for immediate delivery.

Outdoor HD for Varied Applications

These eight new weatherproof and vandal-resistant outdoor camera solutions are ideal for use as tower cams, weather cams, traffic cams, for use in sports facilities, and for remote HD/SD acquisition in a wide range of applications.

The turnkey systems are shipped complete (including the appropriate HE50 camera) in a single box with a single SKU and are ready for immediate deployment. Installers only need to secure the pre-assembled electronics module and the camera in the enclosure (hardware and cables included), mount the enclosure, provide AC power, and connect the system to the local infrastructure. Depending on the site, a complete remote camera system can be up and running in as little as 30 minutes. A pole-mounting adapter and moisture reduction system are also included.

“Panasonic has partnered with key vendors to offer a range of outdoor solutions for varied applications, with enclosures suitable for differing climatic conditions,” said John Rhodes, Product Manager, PSC. “Production-quality, remote HD/SD video is now available in affordable turnkey packages that adapt to the weather conditions users face.”

For the eight systems, model numbers ending with “-1” include a MPEG-4 HD Streaming Codec, the “-2” systems provide HD/SD-SDI output, “-3” systems connect via single-mode fiber, and “-4” systems have HDMI as well as component/composite outputs.

System models with “CD” include CoolDome (active cooling) enclosures for use in hotter climates, and systems models with “HB” have heater/blower enclosures for use in temperate and colder climates.  A Teradek Odyssey HDMI to MPEG-4 encoder/decoder is pre-installed in each “-1” outdoor camera package. Optional Teradek codecs are available from Panasonic for studio decoding, but other hardware and software H.264 decoders can also be used with the system.

Upgrades Add Major Functions

PSC also announced that for a limited time users purchasing an HE50 camera will receive a free firmware upgrade (value $200) that enables 1080/60p output from AW-HE50HN cameras and 1080/30p from    AW-HE50SN. This upgrade also provides very precise color control for camera matching and painting, including both 16-axis color correction and R/B gain. The upgrade kit is available free of charge to those purchasing any HE50 series camera or camera system between May 1st and September 30th, 2011. With a suggested list price of $200, the kits (AW-HEF5HG for AW-HE50HN and AW-HEF5SG for AWHE50SN) are also available to upgrade existing cameras.

New Heavy-duty Wall Mount

The FEC-50WM is a heavy-duty wall mount designed for use with HE50 series cameras in auditoriums, conference centers, and indoor production environments. The attractive mount may be used to install the camera in either an upright or hanging position. The FEC-50WM is available at a suggested list price of $180.
