CAMERON | PACE Group Brings Glee: The 3D Concert Movie to Life with Grass Valley Switcher Technology

CAMERON | PACE Group (CPG), a 3D technology and production services firm, utilized Grass Valley switcher technology to create a live line cut (1st pre edit) of the live-action filled production of Glee Live! In Concert! for Twentieth Century Fox Television and Twentieth Century Fox Film’s co-production of the Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, scheduled to hit theaters on August 12.

CPG used a Grass Valley Kayenne Video Production Center switcher during the recording of the Glee: The 3D Concert Movie production.

Grass Valley also supported CPG with on-site technical training and full event support to assure that the production crew was fully up to speed on the Kayenne, newly introduced into the state-of-the-art, fully integrated CPG mobile workflow unit, FUSION 3D Mobile Unit One. Also included in the CPG mobile unit is a Grass Valley K2 Dyno Replay System for multichannel 3D playback.

“We strive for the highest 3D quality in every production in order to tell the story in the best way possible, and the Grass Valley Kayenne gave us that for Glee,” said Vince Pace, co-chairman and CEO of CAMERON | PACE Group.

“Using the Grass Valley Kayenne during the recording of Glee: The 3D Concert Movie was simple and easy,” said Bruno Brunelle, 3D engineer of CAMERON | PACE Group. “Kayenne gave us the tools needed to record the energy and flow of the live performance and bring to the ‘Gleeks’ (Glee fans) the rich 3D experience they have come to expect from CAMERON | PACE Group.”

“The faith that CAMERON | PACE Group placed in Grass Valley technologies only reinforces our belief that specialty 3D-only equipment is not necessary for high-end 3D television and theatrical productions,” said Jeff Rosica, executive vice president of Grass Valley. “Production companies the world over have been and are continuing to produce 3D content with multiformat Grass Valley equipment, and we’re proud to support them in their role.”

Twentieth Century Fox will release Glee: The 3D Concert Movie for a special limited two-week engagement in theaters everywhere on Aug. 12. Kevin Tancharoen (Fame, Mortal Kombat: Legacy series) directed the film.
