CSN Philly, CSN Mid-Atlantic Kick Off College, High School Football Seasons

Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, together with The Comcast Network, will televise 60 NCAA and eight local high school football games this season. Meanwhile, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic’s 2011 NCAA football schedule will include 73 live games and more than 100 games overall.

CSN Philadelphia and the Comcast Network will feature Villanova and Delaware, plus national games from the PAC-12, Conference USA and Big 12 and local high school favorites including Central Bucks West, Archbishop Ryan and Cardinal O’Hara.

The 2011 NCAA schedule includes five appearances by Delaware and three by Villanova including the Battle of the Blue matchup between the two teams on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3:30 p.m. from PPL Park.

In addition CSN Philadelphia and The Comcast Network will have a full slate of college football shows featuring Penn State, Temple and Rutgers.

This year The Comcast Network will air eight local high school games including games featuring North Penn, Shawnee and Overbrook, plus the Pennsylvania State Playoff game in Hershey, PA. Calling the games will be the announce team of Marc Zumoff (the voice of the Philadelphia 76ers on CSN Philadelphia) and Kevin Reilly (former Eagle and broadcaster for the Philadelphia Eagles Network).

Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic’s overall college football coverage totals more than 100 games and features a new weekly package of live ACC games, along with full schedules from the CAA, C-USA, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC.

CSN Mid-Atlantic opens its college football schedule this week with eight live games, beginning with Mississippi State at Memphis on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 8 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Plus. On Saturday, Sept. 3, four games will air on Comcast SportsNet, with two on CSN Plus. Regional teams are highlighted in Saturday’s action with James Madison at North Carolina at 3:30 p.m. – the first of the network’s live ACC games – and Morgan State at Towson at 7 p.m. Opening weekend coverage closes on Sunday, Sept. 4, with Southern Methodist at Texas A&M at 7:30 p.m.

This season marks the first that Comcast SportsNet will present a weekly schedule of live ACC football as part of a new conference rights agreement. In addition to this weekend’s James Madison-North Carolina opener, the 14-game schedule also includes NC State at Wake Forest on Sept. 10 (3:30 p.m.) and a doubleheader on Sept. 17 featuring Kansas at Georgia Tech (12:30 p.m.) and Arkansas State at Virginia Tech (4 p.m.) The Hokies will also be featured on Sept. 10 (3:30 p.m.) at East Carolina as part of the C-USA schedule. The rest of the ACC schedule will be announced during the season. Weekly encores of Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech games will continue to air on the network this season.

Comcast SportsNet’s NCAA football schedule also includes seven live games from the CAA. This coverage includes five regional teams, including Towson, James Madison, William & Mary, Old Dominion and Richmond. In addition to the opening weekend Morgan State at Towson contest, the network will also air live coverage of James Madison at William & Mary on Sept. 24 (7 p.m.), New Hampshire at William & Mary on Oct. 15 (12 p.m.), James Madison at Old Dominion on Oct. 29 (12 p.m.), Old Dominion at William & Mary on Nov. 12 (12 p.m.) and William & Mary at Richmond on Nov. 19 (12 p.m.). Three other CAA games are scheduled to air on the network as delayed presentations.

In addition to the 21-game schedule of live ACC and CAA football, Comcast SportsNet will also deliver extensive live-game coverage from the nation’s other top conferences. This includes at least 15 games from C-USA, at least nine games from the Pac-12 and a minimum of eight games from the Big 12, as well as two games from the SEC. Several late-season games from the Big 12, Pac-12 and C-USA are still yet to be determined and will be announced later in the season.

Also this season, Comcast SportsNet will present coverage of the inaugural Nation’s Football Classic between Howard and Morehouse from RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. The game will air on the network on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. The following week, coverage of Old Dominion at Hampton will be televised on Comcast SportsNet on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
