French-language Sports Network RDS2 Launches Oct. 7

RDS’s highly-anticipated companion channel, RDS2, will launch on Friday Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. ET. The new 24-hour French-language sports network will feature a jam-packed line-up with more than 1,500 hours of live sports action each year.

RDS2, a premium service, will be available in both high definition and standard definition.

Carriage of RDS2 has already been confirmed by Bell TV and Shaw Direct. RDS is in discussions with other television service providers with the hope of ensuring the broadest possible distribution of the new channel.

Beginning Friday, Oct. 7, carriage of RDS2 will be available on:
·         Bell TV on Channel 1881 in HD and on Channel 192 in SD
·         Bell Fibe on Channel 1124 in HD and Channel 144 in SD
·         Shaw Direct Classic on Channel 239 in HD and Channel 748 in SD
·         Shaw Direct Advanced on Channel 391 in HD and on Channel 748 in SD

RDS2 will celebrate its launch with a special premiere show on Friday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. ET, followed by MLB divisional playoffs and a documentary about the Montreal Expos.

Viewers can also expect to see the following events on RDS2: NHL hockey featuring Ottawa Senators games, NFL, CFL, MLB playoffs and World Series, Major League Soccer, Skate Canada, Barclays Premier League, Rugby World Cup, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, curling, golf, tennis, IIHF World Junior Hockey, and NCAA events.

RDS2 will also offer fans a wide variety of sports programming including niche sports and sports documentaries, in-depth reports, and films.
