Rob Carlin Joins Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic

Rob Carlin has joined Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic as a television anchor and reporter. He replaces Russ Thaler, who is now the host of NBC Sports Talk on VERSUS, which will be re-branded NBC Sports Network on Jan. 2

Carlin will serve as an anchor for SportsNet Central – a position he has appeared in previously on a freelance basis – and will contribute to the daily news program as a reporter. In addition, he will host Capitals Central and Capitals Postgame Live for home games, with Al Koken continuing in that role when the team is playing on the road.

A veteran sports anchor and reporter, Carlin has strong ties to the Washington/Baltimore area and experience covering the NHL. For the past two seasons, he hosted the New York Islanders’ pregame and postgame shows on MSG Network. Previously, the University of Maryland graduate served as a sports anchor and reporter with Baltimore’s WMAR-TV (ABC) for more than three years, where he covered the Orioles, Ravens, and Terrapins.

“As an experienced sports reporter with a longtime connection to the region and knowledge of our teams, Rob makes a perfect addition to our talented group of anchors and reporters,” said Comcast SportsNet Senior Vice President and General Manager Rebecca Schulte. “In addition, he is very versatile and his experience covering hockey will be an asset to Capitals Central and Capitals Postgame Live this season.”
