Campus Clips: UK FanCam to Capture High-Def Image of Rupp Arena; Atlantic 10 Men’s Hoops to Receive Record Coverage

As a part of the festivities surrounding Saturday’s marquee men’s college basketball matchup between North Carolina and Kentucky, the UK FanCam will take an ultra-high-def, 5 billion pixel 360 degree image from center court of Rupp Arena. The Kentucky Athletic Department is asking fans to be in their seats 18 minutes prior to tipoff (12 minutes on the pregame clock) to fill up the arena for the shoot. This high-definition image will capture Rupp Arena in its entirety, and the image takes between 5-7 minutes to shoot. Once rendered, fans will be able to “step inside” the 360 gigapixel image and look around, as if they were standing on the court for a frozen moment of time. The resolution of 5 billion pixels is so high that fans will be able to zoom in to find themselves or friends, “tag” themselves in the photo, and share via email, Facebook and Twitter. Fans can even cruise around the arena to see who else was in the stands…
