Adtec Digital Supplies Encoder for Moonlink Satellite

When Moonlink Satellite was looking for a new encoder, they listened to recommendations by the largest sports-minded network in the business.

“My first exposure to Adtec was when I heard of [them] working closely with a small, responsive company and seemed very happy with the results,” explains Kevin Stebleton, truck #4 operator for Michigan based Moonlink Satellite.

After additional research, Stebleton recommended to Moonlink Satellite owner Jeff Moon a pair of Adtec Digital mediaHUB-Pro’s for their new fiber encode and transmission kit to use in their Ku Satellite truck that was still operating in standard definition. The mediaHUB-Pro 02  worked so well that when they needed to add MPEG-4 to their SNG offering, they again turned to Adtec and found the EN-81 to be “an obvious choice.”

“We were going to be doing 16 channel audio for sports in the near future,” adds Stebleton. “The EN-81 was once again well suited for our needs, and very competitive in pricing.”

The EN-81 is designed especially for Tier 1 satellite, ASI/fiber and IP contribution, and DSNG applications. It offers HD and SD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC encoding and boasts 16 channels of audio. Since acquiring the EN-81, Moonlink Satellite has been involved in such national uplink projects as political broadcasts, racing industry communications, corporate announcements, and music festivals.

While it takes the right knowledge and products to build a business, great customer service is the lifeline that both sustains and grows a business.

“We had some minor issues along the way,” says Stebleton. “Along with hardware support, Adtec’s assistance over the telephone is tops in the business. When I call for help, my rep usually picks up the phone and either my question is answered on the spot, or I will have a call from a designer in 15 minutes. That sort of support is almost non-existent in 2011, where voice mail is the norm.”
