Signiant Expands Senior Management Team

Signiant announced the appointment of two industry veterans to top management positions, further strengthening the company’s executive team and market position. Tom Canavan, an industry-recognized expert in file-based systems deployment for some of the world’s largest broadcasters and media service providers, has been named Senior Vice President of Strategic Development. Lisa Clark, who has developed and positioned several leading media technology brands, has joined as Vice President of Marketing.

“The expansion of our accomplished management team at such a pivotal time in Signiant’s history reflects next steps in our strategy for growth and continued market leadership,” said Margaret Craig, CEO of Signiant. “The operational capacity, deep industry knowledge, and enduring relationships that Tom and Lisa bring to our team will broaden our engagements with media industry customers and help to ensure that our solutions meet the current and future needs of these organizations. On behalf of the entire staff, I am delighted to welcome them to the Signiant team.”

As head of strategic development, Canavan will drive Signiant’s overall solutions strategy, engaging directly with the company’s extensive customer base and partner ecosystem. Most recently, Canavan provided strategic and business consulting services to the media industry, including telecom, technology and private equity firms. Prior to this, he was Executive Vice President of Ascent Media with management responsibility for Ascent’s global Systems & Technology Services (S&TS) business unit, one of the world’s largest providers of professional services to the media industry. In this capacity, he oversaw the execution of many of the industry’s most complex technology deployments, including network infrastructure for the world’s first telecom fiber-to-the-home project. Canavan was President of A.F. Associates, a leading international broadcast systems integrator, prior to its acquisition by Ascent Media in 2000 and also served as Group Vice President of Video Services Corp. (VSC).

As Vice President of Marketing, Lisa Clark brings 20 years of progressive accomplishments in building high-value software companies and brands — from very early stages through product and channel diversification and global expansion. Prior to joining Signiant, Clark led marketing initiatives for several successful digital media software companies, including Avid Technology and The FeedRoom, a pioneering online video platform (OVP) and digital asset management (DAM) software company acquired by Kit Digital in 2009. Early in her career, Clark held marketing and editorial positions with Simon & Schuster, National Geographic, and ABC News.

These management team appointments demonstrate continued momentum for the company, which accelerated a number of key growth strategies in 2011. These initiatives included global market expansion and the introduction of the company’s next-generation Media Exchange file-based media transfer software, featuring easy-to-use desktop and mobile file-sharing apps. Through these efforts, Signiant has increased its footprint in key accounts worldwide, delivering a unified platform for managed file movement, scalable for media enterprises of all sizes.
