Charter Adds NESN for Southern Connecticut Counties

Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fans in southern Litchfield and New Haven county Connecticut served by Charter will now be able to see NESN’s Bruins and Red Sox coverage. Charter has launched New England’s most watched sports network on channel 774 (high definition) and channel 35 (standard definition) as part of Charter’s Expanded Basic level of service.

“Charter is pleased to offer NESN to our customers in Litchfield and New Haven counties, providing comprehensive coverage of Red Sox, Bruins and other New England based sports programming,” said Gregory A. Garabedian, vice president and general manager for Charter’s operations in New England.

“This is tremendous news for fans in these Charter communities,” said Sean McGrail, NESN’s president and CEO. “The Red Sox are about to begin the 2012 season and the Bruins are readying themselves for the start of the playoffs to defend the Stanley Cup, so the timing couldn’t be better. This launch means NESN is now distributed 100% throughout the Connecticut territory permitted by the leagues.”

Due to MLB and NHL broadcast regulations, NESN is not permitted to televise Red Sox and Bruins games in Fairfield county Connecticut.
