JFS Taps Trio Video Vet Roszczybiuk as Director of Engineering

RIVA Technologies has brought Carl Roszczybiuk aboard as director of engineering for JFS (Joseph Fiber Solutions). Roszczybiuk, long-time director of engineering for Trio Video until NEP Broadcasting acquired the company last month, will shepherd the newly announced JFS Fiber Caddie Series and will be heavily involved in the company’s upcoming CIER Series of infrastructure solutions.

“I’m looking forward to joining the JFS team,” says Roszczybiuk. “It’s an exciting feeling to be able to work directly in producing cutting-edge products for the broadcast industry. In joining the JFS team, I’m excited that my experience in the TV-station and broadcast-production fields will help expand the already highly recognized fiber-solutions division into new areas and growth in the industry.”

During his 24-year tenure, Trio grew from a small Midwestern provider to one of the top U.S. mobile-truck vendors for concerts, operas, and live sports events. Roszczybiuk oversaw all engineering issues for the company’s portfolio of sports and entertainment clients and was directly responsible for designing and building several of Trio Video’s analog and HD trucks that are still on the road today.

In addition to nearly cornering the large-scale music-festival market (handling Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and South by Southwest, among others), Trio has dominated the Chicago sports sector, providing trucks for Chicago Bulls, Cubs, and White Sox productions in recent years. Trio also caters to a variety of national sports broadcasts, including the NFL.

“The challenges of live music and broadcast productions have always required many new approaches for solutions,” says Roszczybiuk. “I have previously worked with JFS to develop products to meet these situations. Now I’m looking forward to being directly involved in supporting and creating products for those same markets.”

Prior to joining Trio Video, Roszczybiuk served as chief engineer at WSNS-TV Chicago for 13 years. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with B.A. in electrical engineering.

At JFS, Roszczybiuk’s chief task will be to provide product-line management and development of the JFS Fiber Caddie Series, which RIVA Technologies (parent company of both JFS and Joseph Electronics) describes as “a unique and versatile modular family of products provid[ing] point-to-point fiber-optic transport solutions for applications related to audio, video, MADI, data, Ethernet, cameras, monitoring, and communications. Both budget and user-friendly, the Caddie Series offers reliable, cutting-edge broadcast technology that’s easy to set up and tear down and custom features for the demands of remote TV production.”

“We are proud to have Carl join our technical team and lend his vast knowledge, talent, and industry expertise to the JFS business unit,” says JFS Director Gideon Uys. “In addition to his extraordinary hands-on experience in the OB world, [his work at WSNS-TV] gives him a unique and invaluable perspective of the fiber-optic applications, challenges, and solutions required to service both these key broadcast market segments. The foundation for JFS is its engineering and field experience, and Carl greatly enhances those values at JFS and moves us collectively to a new level.”
