Live from NAB: Dalet Sports Factory Enters Year Two

At last year’s NAB, the big news for Dalet was the introduction of Dalet Sports Factory, a media asset management platform that also served as logging, clipping, and replay tool for live event and post game coverage of sporting events. At NAB this week, Dalet is showcasing the latest version of Dalet Sports Factory

Dalet Digital Media System’s Thomas Bairl has been at the company’s NAB booth giving demonstrations of Dalet Sports Factory.

“This is an array of different sports tools all tightly integrated with the asset management system that Dalet offers,” says Thomas Bairl, product manager at Dalet. “Our most frequently used playout tool is the Dynamic to Air and is used to build and play highlight packages during intermission breaks and post game shows.”

In July of 2010, Dalet acquired the Italian broadcast solutions provider Gruppo TNT, which had a strong presense in the sports broadcasting marketplace in Italy. This year, Dalet Sports Factory features a full integration of some of the top tools and features that made Gruppo TNT’s system so successful in Italy.

The logging, editing, and metadata tagging possible in Dalet Sports Factory prove to be a useful tool for sports broadcasters and was a popular product for Versus during its NHL coverage last year.

New Asset Management Tool Unveiled
On Monday, Dalet debuted plans for Dalet Galaxy, the latest version of the company’s enterprise Media Asset Management (MAM) platform.

Dalet Galaxy includes a high-value, BPMN 2.0-compliant workflow engine that boosts productivity and agility while also improving operational and business visibility across the media enterprise.

The release will offer many additional features including a new modern-looking graphical user interface; Dalet One Cut, a built-in, multitrack video editing framework; more customizable data models; advanced tools for searching and indexing; increased interoperability with NLEs; and support for upcoming industry standards such as AS-02 and FIMS.

Dalet Galaxy will become the foundation for the company’s enterprise MAM solutions, which include the purpose-built workgroup packages Dalet Media Life for program prep and archiving, Dalet News Suite for news production and distribution, Dalet Sports Factory for live event and sports production, and Dalet Radio Suite for multiplatform news and music programming.

Integrating with Switch Media
Multi-platform video specialists Switch Media today announced that their Video Content Management System (VCMS) is now 100% API integrated with the Dalet Enterprise Edition and Dalet web services including News, Media Asset Management and Sport.

“This is a very big step forward for anyone wanting to publish content to multiple platforms as the VCMS integration allows users to publish to any connected device directly from Dalet’s Enterprise Edition MAM system with just one click,” says Switch Media’s Global Head of Sales Mark Johns.
